Our Core Principle

Baby Monitor places your privacy and your baby's security as an absolute priority. The app requires no user accounts, has no tracking advertisements, and operates without external cloud relay servers. Audio and nursery readings stream only between your two devices over your local Wi-Fi or Hotspot network; they are never uploaded to the developer or third-party cloud servers.

1. Processed Data and Architecture

  • Audio Streaming (Microphone): The baby device captures live sound and streams it encrypted (WebRTC DTLS-SRTP) strictly to the approved parent device on your local network. Audio is never recorded to disk and never leaves your home network.
  • On-Device AI Cry Detection: Sound analysis runs entirely on the physical phone processor (On-Device AI). No audio samples are transmitted to external servers.
  • Push-to-Talk Audio: Soothing audio sent from the parent to the baby remains strictly peer-to-peer on the local network.
  • Device Status: Device name, battery percentage, signal strength, and cryptographic pairing tokens are kept in volatile local memory solely for device synchronization.

2. App Permissions and Their Purpose

  • Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Required to monitor nursery audio and enable two-way talkback.
  • Camera (CAMERA): Used exclusively to scan the pairing QR code within seconds. No photos or videos are ever saved.
  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Required to alert you promptly when your baby cries or when connection drops.
  • Nearby Devices / Local Network (Android): Required by Android to broadcast mDNS discovery beacons and establish a router-free Hotspot connection. Physical location is never accessed or stored.
  • Foreground Service: Ensures that audio monitoring continues uninterrupted while your screen is locked or while using other applications.

3. Third-Party Services

  • Firebase Crashlytics (Essential): Sends anonymous crash traces (stack traces, phone model, OS version) to fix technical bugs. No personal identity is attached.
  • Firebase Analytics (Optional): If opted in, collects anonymous usage interactions to help us refine the app. You can disable this anytime in Settings.
  • Google Play In-App Billing: Premium purchases are handled securely through Google Play. We never see or store your payment details.
  • Lullaby & Stories (YouTube): YouTube bedtime stories stream directly from Google's servers only when played.

4. Children's Privacy

Baby Monitor is designed for use by parents and guardians. We do not collect personal data from or about children.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Because no user accounts or audio streams are stored on our servers, there is no remote data stored to delete. Local preferences and tokens can be cleared anytime by clearing the app cache or uninstalling the app.
